Grain and Pulse Suppliers in the Nairobi area
The last two weeks we have been traveling in the Nairobi area to visit potential grain and pulse suppliers. These suppliers have reacted to a WFP call for cereal supply advertised in the local newspapers. Cereals used in Kenya are mainly maize and beans. We are now visiting these potential suppliers to verify the information given on paper and see how they handle the food they have stored.

WFP in Mombasa
Today I visited the warehouses of WFP in Mombasa. The amount of food stored is impressive and so is the amount of food that is needed for the beneficiaries! The largest refugee camp in the world is situated in Kenya and houses over half a million people.
The refugee camp is thereby competing with Mombasa as the second largest city in Kenya.
